Rice with Shalaka Kurup
In this episode, Anna talks to ergonomist and rice enthusiast Shalaka Kurup about rice. We cover where rice comes from, the many uses of rice (including for beauty purposes), and what makes rice one part bad for the planet to two parts great for the soul.
Shalaka is a Human Factors PhD student at the University of Nottingham, looking at the design of information for rail passengers. This means that she spends a lot of her time saying “this is an ergonomic nightmare” in the most pretentious way possible. She is also a self-made potato connoisseur, rice aficionado, aerial hoop-er, wine enthusiast, and comedic both intentionally and unintentionally.
